The Opportunity:

As a HRSS Payroll Specialist you will be responsible for the timely and accurate processing of payroll for entities within Open Text including country specific payrolls. This includes using expanded experiences of OpenText’s payroll and HCM platforms to perform the monitoring of payroll inputs, reconciling payroll output reports, reconcile benefit invoices vs payroll output, accrual balance analysis & updates etc. This may include performing payroll tasks for countries that increasingly complex processing requirements.

What you Are Great At:

  • Requires an enhanced understanding of payroll rules and regulations particular to Ireland, UK, South Africa. Other international payroll experience would be an advantage.
  • Monitor payroll inputs either from an HCM system/reports, 3rd party inputs etc. to ensure accuracy for pre-payroll processing and understands/performs corrective actions (30%)
  • Reviews work against existing checklists, audit reports run prior to processing payroll. Updates processing documentation as needed (10%)
  • Obtain appropriate approval to release payroll for processing (5%)
  • Foster / grow contacts with all key stakeholders (HR Tier 1, Employees, auditors, vendors etc) (45%)
  • Act as a key contact point for internal/external auditors taking direction from a Lead Specialist and Sr Payroll Manager (10%)
  • Able to make informed decisions related to complex issues and needs limited assistance/guidance team leads/managers as needed.
  • Works under the guidance of a lead payroll specialist and manager with clearly defined goals and roles.
  • Able to highlight, escalate and recommend corrective action for risks and issues on a timely basis by seeking guidance on a timely manner.
  • Able to plan ahead for year-end and quarterly requirements.
  • Example would be input errors that need to be addressed/corrected, errors of omission where there may be missing data input that is expected.
  • Assigned more complex countries that may have tax, pension related plans.
  • Expanded language skills may add another layer of customer service in being able to communicate with legal authorities, vendors, audits located in the countries they service.
  • Able to recognize the problems and uses professional and technical expertise to present/suggest solutions.
  • Provides functional guidance to others on complex problems.
  • Faces more complex issues related to the countries they service and handling more headcount than a PP2.
  • Issues would be addressed and solved by utilizing past experiences, the use of networking and communication with key stakeholders.
  • Ability to work / lead teams that would address complex issues involving other functions.

What is required/desired

Other Jobs You May Be Interested In

  • Good payroll experience in a multi-national company
  • College diploma or equivalent experience
  • Strong knowledge of Country payroll tax processes and requirements
  • Foreign language skill sets appropriate to the country of hire
  • Payroll Professional Certification preferred: e.g. FPC, CPP)
  • High level of integrity and confidentiality
  • ADP Freedom system user knowledge
  • Additional European Language would be desirable.
  • Experience in the following software packages:
    • Outsourced payroll packages (ADP Globalview, Freedom, Streamline, Celergo etc.)
    • SAP SuccessFactors HCM
    • Microsoft Office
    • Finance General Ledger Systems
