McElhanney Ltd. is looking to hire an Office Survey Technologist to join our growing geomatics team. This is a great career opportunity for a dedicated individual who enjoys working in the great outdoors and/or in an office setting to gain hands on surveying experience. Working directly with seasoned professionals and industry leading mentors, you will collaborate with land surveyors, field supervisors, project managers, party chiefs, survey assistants, and other staff to provide timely and efficient completion on a variety of legal, topographic and construction surveys in rural and remote areas.

The successful candidate will be based in and working out of our office in Whistler as part of our Vancouver Geomatics Branch.
This role is designated as a safety sensitive position.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Interpret field data in order to create accurate survey drawings and legal plans, which will include downloading and editing field data, interpreting field notes and sketches, and processing conventional and GPS data.
- Communicate scope and schedule information to team members, set expectations, and ensure project tasks are completed on time.
- Complete calculations as needed and prepare for drafting or client project reporting.
- Collaborate with Project Managers and clients regarding enquiries and issues.
- Implementing and ensure quality assurance on all field returns.
- Maintain, test, calibrate and adjust survey equipment as needed.
- Work with Project Manager for performance of office tasks.
- Coordinate the preparation of documents and applications required for regulatory approvals.
What You’ll Bring
- Two-year technical diploma or degree in geomatics or civil engineering with up to 5 years of previous experience in a similar role, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Physically fit, able to lift heavy equipment, willing to work in various environmental conditions with varied terrain, able to work in wildlife populated areas, and willing to work in remote areas for extended periods and varied hours.
- Experience with Civil 3D, MicroSurvey and Trimble Business Centre is an asset.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Good written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, good attendance, sound judgment skills, and general computer knowledge.
