Job Summary

Bring your policy and legislation expertise to this leadership role

The Laboratory and Blood Services Branch is responsible for overall strategic planning, policy development, monitoring and evaluation for two lines of provincial health care business: laboratory services and blood services. The branch works with regional health authorities, BC’s Agency for Pathology and Laboratory Medicine (now under PHSA), and other stakeholders to identify issues and opportunities for improvement, and to lead the development of provincial initiatives to improve access, quality of care, and accountability.

Reporting to the Director, this position entails leading a number of collaborative teams involving internal and external stakeholders on various strategic initiatives and priority projects currently being undertaken by the Laboratory and Blood Services Branch in the Pharmaceutical Laboratory and Blood Services Division.The position will be responsible for leading the research, analysis, development and implementation plans of strategic policies and legislation related to provincial laboratory governance models, health technology assessments, legislative changes, funding and public pay models for POCT devices, data collection and use, and general policy review.

Job Requirements:
• Degree (Masters preferred) in public administration, business administration, law, economics, social sciences, sciences, or equivalent, and 3 years progressive and recent, related experience*.
* Recent related progressive experience must include:
• Experience in the development of legislation, regulation, and policy.
• Experience in planning and coordinating complex projects/assignments.
• Experience in concisely and persuasively writing a range of documents/content.
Preference may be given to applicants who identify as Indigenous (First Nations, Métis or Inuit)

About this Position:

Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 3 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement
