Position Summary:

The Medical Evidence Generation Lead will support the successful adoption of Sanofi vaccines in Canada by leading all aspects of the evidence-generation requirements for optimal recommendations from regional/national public health bodies. The incumbent will provide strategic and technical direction to develop, deploy, execute, and manage high-value projects (in epidemiology, mathematical modelling, and health economics) which support Sanofi’s therapeutic portfolio. The incumbent must possess the technical and business acumen to achieve these tactics. Among many responsibilities, the incumbent will:

  • Meet with stakeholders, deliver presentations, present at conferences, participate in advisory boards, and seek opportunities to engage with experts or governing bodies (e.g. provincial public health, NACI).
  • Identify and validate evidence gaps in Canada relevant to product launch.
  • Adapt and execute Global evidence generation plans for Canada embracing a “glocal” model for cross-collaboration (with US and Global Medical).
  • Provide input to the medical and commercial teams regarding opportunities to implement market access strategies by identifying appropriate partners and sources for business-relevant RWE.

Key Responsibilities:

Epidemiological and Health Economic Evidence Generation

  • Create and support internal and external collaboration to identify gaps, design, launch, and execute innovative and strategic evidence-generation projects across all therapeutic areas, aligned with the priorities and strategic plans for medical and global business units.
  • Acts as a methodological expert for health technology assessment and product-submission-related activities.
  • Work closely with the real-world evidence and health-economic outcomes research teams to help shape the integration of epidemiological and health-economic evidence to support product launches.
  • Works with cross-functional teams (i.e. glocal model) to provide guidance and input on incorporating epidemiological and health economic evidence into the product development lifecycle.
  • Create, contribute, manage and execute evidence-generation plans for all priority products across therapeutic areas and align the evidence-generation strategy to support Sanofi products.
  • Facilitate and catalyze partnerships and activities to create high-quality datasets and/or relevant models for therapeutic area data acquisition initiatives.
  • Interface with external partners to drive evidence-generation initiatives to enhance disease burden knowledge across therapeutic areas.
  • Derive maximum benefit from evidence generation (prospective and existing) to accelerate product launch and market access through supporting health technology assessment processes.
  • Identify new evidence-generation and cross-functional opportunities (e.g. new data sources, analytic capabilities, platforms/technologies, collaborators) which bring innovative solutions and address critical knowledge gaps across therapeutic areas.
  • Conduct ecological and feasibility assessments to understand sentiment and landscape for the pre-launch of Sanofi Pasteur assets.
  • Track deadlines, deliverables, internal budget/resourcing, and timelines relevant to Sanofi’s health technology assessment(s) with product planning/strategy and launch (i.e. project management); escalate risk to timelines and budget as needed.
  • Ensure delivery of medical or health economic studies per the agreed strategic plan and within the agreed-upon timelines and budget.
  • Manage budgets, liaise with glocal colleagues, and ensure internal adjudication prerequisites for study implementation; ensure global real-world evidence governance processes are followed.

Thought Leader Development

  • Identify, develop, and maintain relationships with current and future Thought Leaders.
  • Identify and liaise with speakers and advocates among Thought Leaders.
  • Link Thought Leaders with internal partners to support educational and research collaboration.
  • Participate and help develop relevant advisory boards.

Medical Education

  • Foster scientific information exchange between Sanofi and the medical/healthcare community.
  • Discuss and remain updated on external scientific materials (e.g., current publications) to engage and maintain relationships with our external stakeholders.
  • Participate at regional or national conferences/congresses.
  • Lead and/or coordinate the development of scientific publications and presentations at professional congresses based on the findings from evidence-based studies.
  • Organize meetings, lead critical discussions, and deliver presentations to our internal/external stakeholders to ensure knowledge translation and dissemination of ongoing or existing research relevant to therapeutic areas and Sanofi products; help develop strategic communication for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Supervise and assist with developing and managing prospective talent (e.g., interns, residents, co-op students).

Key Requirements:

  • Graduate or professional degree from an accredited university (e.g. MA, MPH, MSc, PhD, PharmD, MD)
  • Candidates must possess a track record of excellence in at least one of the following areas:
  • Economic and epidemiologic infectious disease modelling
  • Quantitative analysis
  • Minimum five years of work experience in a quantitative or relevant role (e.g. biostatistics, epidemiology, applied statistics, health economics, or operations research role)
  • Experience with infectious disease, epidemiological, and/or health economic modelling
  • Working knowledge of vaccines
  • Strong understanding of private and public pharmaceutical funding and health technology assessments
  • Experience with either CADTH, NACI, PMPRB, regional/provincial public health, and/or provincial drug programs
  • Expertise in developing and leading multi-stakeholder research collaborations in health economics and/or epidemiologic research

Language:

  • Written and fluency in spoken English

Travel:

  • Travel is required up to 25% of the time. Travel will be primarily domestic and may include US and global locations.

Computer Knowledge:

  • R, SAS, Microsoft VBA/Excel, and/or Tableau
  • Office 365, Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Concu
