The Ministry of Water, Land and Resource Stewardship is accountable for integrated water, land and natural resource management and cross-sector legislation, policy, and objective setting for land and marine environments. Building on integrated land and resource management efforts in the past, the Ministry will seek to build a new vision in collaboration with natural resource ministries and First Nations that will embrace shared decision making on the land base. The Ministry will strengthen integration across the sector to mitigate, plan, respond and adapt our management practices, including a focus on effectively managing cumulative effects. Responsible for providing resource and geographically based information and analysis, the Ministry supports timely, evidence-informed policy and decision-making and provides a pathway to balancing the goals of economic activity, environmental sustainability, and advancing reconciliation with Indigenous people. Advancing cross-ministry governance and bringing together multidisciplinary teams from across government, the Ministry will assist the sector in addressing the most challenging cross-sector initiatives and strategic priorities.
The Permitting Solutions Office (PSO) is responsible for working across the Natural Resource Ministries (NRM) the Environmental Assessment Office (EAO), BC Energy Regulator (BCER) and the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure (MOTI) to establish greater certainty, transparency and clarity in the permitting process while reducing the overall volume of applications moving through the system. This broad initiative is tasked to review legislation, provincial policy, tools, supports and standards needed to support statutory decision-making and effective permitting and authorizations. Led by the Ministry of Water, Land and Resource Stewardship, it brings together multi-disciplinary teams from across the natural resource sector to address our most challenging and highest priority cross-sector initiatives and strategic priorities as identified by the NRM Deputy Ministers.
Working at a provincial level, the position is responsible for designing and carrying out applied strategies and leading projects to deliver solutions across NRM initiatives driven by broader provincial level priorities. This position is responsible for collaborating with NRM staff to lead and manage complex priority projects.
